The Boston Red Sox are preparing to face off against the Cleveland Guardians in the final game of their series at Fenway Park on Thursday. However, with several starting pitchers sidelined due to injury, the team is shaking up their rotation.

Boston revealed that left-handed reliever Brennan Bernardino will serve as the opener for the series finale against Cleveland, where he will go up against Carlos Carrasco.

Despite beginning the season in Triple-A Worcester, Bernardino has impressed with a 1.69 ERA in 5 1/3 innings pitched for the major-league team.

This won’t be Bernardino’s first time in the opening role. In 2023, he started six games for Boston, delivering a solid performance with just two earned runs allowed and 14 strikeouts over nine innings.

With a record of 10-9 and a home record of 3-6, the Red Sox are looking to make strategic moves and capitalize on opportunities presented by their opponents. Despite the challenges posed by injuries, the team remains focused on competing at a high level.
